Get The 5 Best Weight Loss Rules

By Joyce E Edwards

I read once that "all diets work" and all diets will help you to "lose" weight. The problem is that rather than maintain the weight loss we often go back to our bad eating habits and gain all of the weight that we lost back again. I I didn't agree.

As a seasoned dieter who had long been trying various ways to lose weight I knew that this was not true. The issue was that there had been many diet programs that I implemented and followed the advice exactly only to see the scale not budge. True story, the scale did not record the drop of even one pound. My body was completely resistant to losing weight.

Biology has made it more difficult for women to lose weight. It is always going to be easier for a man to lose weight because nature has designed women to hold on to fat. That is because in the case of a famine, a woman not only has to be able to keep herself alive but she must also be able to keep any offspring alive. Biology has just made it harder for women. It's a fact of life.

But in the past few years and throughout this struggle, I have learned quite a few things that can help women to lose weight. I will share my top five rules for weight loss here.

The first rule is fairly simple, "Eat". Yes, eat at least three and even as many as 6 small meals every day. For one thing it keeps you from becoming over hungry, which prevents you from gorging and another reason is that it keeps your metabolism going strong. Your body will start to conserve fat if it believes it's starving so the first rule has to be to Eat.

The second is to consume only quality food. That means nutritionally dense food that will be an advantage to your body. Eating food that is lacking in nutritional value is a sure way to pack on the pounds. Also many cravings are actually caused by a nutritional lack so stay away from any food that does not provide decent nutrition.

The third rule is to add protein with each meal. Protein is digested slower than carbohydrates and it will not cause a sugar spike in your bloodstream. Eating protein will keep you fuller longer and you will end up consuming less later on.

The fourth rule is to be picky about the carbohydrates that you eat. Simple carbs, such as baked goods made with white flour and anything that is pure sugar will just send your blood sugar soaring and that makes you hungry again in a very short time. It will also go straight to your fat deposits, as it adds no nutritional value. Complex carbs, such as whole grains and vegetables have fiber, which keeps your digestive system running smoothly and they also provide excellent nutrition.

The fifth rule is to start moving. Start an exercise program. Start walking and take the stairs. You can begin slow and move up to a more challenging program as you become stronger but if you want to lose weight and keep it off long-term exercise is critical.

This is a lifetime commitment. Few people with weight problems master it once and for all. It is a commitment you make everyday. But if you stick to these rules for most of the time you will be on your way to a lean body. - 29951
