The Downside Of Energy Drinks For Getting Toned Arms

By Katherine Crawford M.S.

Energy drinks pack a powerful punch and they can help you get through the dieting lows when trying to get toned arms. However, chronic consumption of said drinks has its consequences.

Now energy drinks can really seduce you. After all, all you have to do is open a can, drink some liquid and you get instant energy.

But here is why you should think twice about taking energy drinks to help you get rid of arm flab:

1. Digestive issues. Energy drinks are loaded with caffeine. And one of the major side effects from chronic and high caffeine intakes is the slow degradation of digestive linings.

2. The covering up of poor sleep habits. Even though you may not feel the consequences of sleep loss because of the energizing drink, your body definitely feels it. And sleep loss is toned arms enemy number one.

3. Unconscious sleep sabotage. When you fall asleep, you'll reawake at least 10 times. But the awakenings are so brief and light that you don't remember any of them. Too much bottled energy during the day can increase said awakenings. The end result? Poorer sleep without you being aware of the cause.

4. Adrenal fatigue. If you were to continually consume energy drinks with abandon, you would reach a point where the energy burst would simply disappear. This happens because of adrenal fatigue. And chronic abuse of your adrenal system can lead to faster aging!

5. Cellular dehydration. Caffeine does two things: it increases dehydration and it masks the effects of said dehydration. This is not a good combo for arm flab. After all, cellular hydration has a direct impact on recovery, fatigue, mental state and metabolism.

Now energy drinks don't have to be avoided at all times. It's ok to have one every once in a while. Just make sure you aren't chronically addicted to them. This is when you can run into some trouble. Moreover, if you really want to get rid of arm flab, loose leaf teas would be a much better option here. - 29951
