How To Avoid Stress

By Andrew John

When you want to deal with your stress you should first learn a few rules which can help you. Otherwise you won't be able to relax and think clearly - and you fail to solve your everyday problems.

Taking long deep breaths is probably one of the oldest and the most common ways to deal with the stress. When you concentrate on breathing you can calm down much more easier. What's more, such practices also help to supply your brain with oxygen and thus allow you to think clearly and take the right decisions.

Continuous work is often an important cause of stress, so when you feel that you can't concentrate on it any longer, you should take a break. Leave your desk and go for a short walk, get some fresh air and try to set your thoughts in order instead of sitting at your desk and staring at papers. Such short breaks at different times during the whole day will not only decrease your stress level, but also help you work faster and better.

To stay in a balance and not fall into the stress trap, you must remember about regularly doing some exercises. Still, each of us needs a different amount of them, so you should experiment a bit on the time and the difficulty level of exercises your mind and body need. Remember that too much exercising won't help you deal with the stress better, it will only make you feel tired and thus increase your stress level. Also, don't forget about the right diet. It is necessary to keep your mind and body in good condition.

Reduce the amount of coffee you drink. Try to have one or two cups in the morning, but later drink tea instead of it. Coffee tends to increase stress level and in larger quantities can be dangerous to your health. Never use drugs or alcohol to relax. They are highly addictive and can cause more problems than you can imagine.

When you see that you can't organize your time and manage your schedule, it means that it is the right time to start working on yourself. Don't get frustrated with the initial failures, remember that with constant practicing you will soon make progress, so try to think positively. Negative thinking won't solve any problems, it may only create a few more. Even in perils you should have a positive outlook on life, only then you will be able to act efficiently.

Don't forget that there is also humor in your life. Try to find some joy in everyday situation instead of being serious all the time. Hiding your positive emotions not only increases the stress level but also may cause great problems in your relationships with your family or friends. The same rule concerns negative emotions. It is far better to disagree with someone and dispute the matter for a few hours than to hide your feelings and then fire up in the most inappropriate moment. - 29951
