The Easiest Way To Lose Weight And Keep It Off For Good

By Cindy Burgenstein

If you wake up in the morning and turn your head every time you pass by the mirror, then you are likely a couple pounds overweight. Join the club. Most adults today could lose a couple pounds. (Some of us could lose a couple hundred pounds!) Because you are reading this, you are well on your way to discovering the secrets to losing weight, and keeping it off for good.

The first thing to do is stop thinking short term. Most people, when they think of losing weight, think of doing it quickly and getting it over with. Like pulling of a bandage, or setting a broken bone. The problem with this is that when you finish "losing weight" and go back to your old way of doing things, you gain the weight right back.

It's much better to think in terms of "lifestyle change," rather than "going on a diet." Nobody likes the idea of going on a diet for the rest of your life, so they usually don't work. But a lifestyle change can be easy, as long as you introduce the changes gradually, so you give yourself time to get used to them.

The first step in your new lifestyle is to incorporate some kind of exercise in your daily routine. Maybe go for a walk every night, or do a couple of sit ups in the morning, or do some yoga. The most important thing is to do something that you are comfortable with. That way it won't be very hard to motivate yourself to do them. And after a week or so, they'll seem like part of your normal routine. When that happens, you can add more.

Of course, you'll also need to adjust your eating habits. Here the same rule applies. Slower is better. Change one or two meals a week from fast food to healthy food. Skip the ice cream once a week. Go for the diet soda instead of the regular soda once in a while.

By going slow, and making gradual changes, you'll yourself a dramatic advantage that most people don't have patience for. But you'll have the last laugh, as you will be developing a healthy, slim body that will last you a lifetime. - 29951
