By Melissa Goodwich

If you are here then you are more than likely looking for information on jogging that is aimed towards the beginner. Jogging can be a great way to get into shape, but if you are new to this there are some tips that you should follow.

You have to take care of your feet when you are jogging, the best way that you can do this is to use running shoes. Running shoes are designed to take stress of impact of your feet when you are jogging, and can greatly help your recovery of leg muscles, and also prevent yourself from getting injured.

Stay hydrated, this is extremely important as you do not want to all of a sudden pass out in the middle of a run. If you are consuming 64 ounces of water per day you shouldn't have to worry about getting dehydrated in the middle of a jog.

The number one reason people get injured from jogging is that they do not stretch their leg muscles. This should be done prior to beginning your run, and right after you are done with your run to reduce the possibility of injury.

Now that you have the basics down you will have to find a place that you can go to jog. I would try and find a trail with some nice scenery, this makes it easier and makes time go by faster on those long jogs. I personally do not use treadmills, one because they are extremely boring to use and they also put more stress on your shins.

Don't try and go too far your first week of running. If you are in decent shape already you may want to start off at a mile and a half to a mile. Your muscles will get stronger as you progress in time, there is no need to push yourself as this could lead to injury.

Ensure that you have a plan. For a beginner I would say jogging around 2-3 times a week is plenty. You want to eventually get up to 4-5 times a week, but that should take a couple of months depending on the person. Just make sure you are not doing it every day as your body needs time to recover and build muscle.

The key to jogging is to be consistent with it. You really do not need to go our running more than 4 times a week. Make it a goal to get up to 4 miles a jog, this could take several months or longer. Just make records of everything, tracking your progress is very important as it is the only way know how much you are improving.

Take these tips and use them and you should be fine when it comes to jogging. With the right diet and exercise program, combined with jogging you have the potential to get into excellent shape, health, and you will overall feel great. - 29951
